FAQs

Can I use this grinder for espresso?
No — this is a manual grinder built for medium and coarser brewing, not espresso. It won't grind fine or consistently enough for a good espresso shot. If espresso is your goal, look at our Artisan Barista Conical Burr Grinder or one of our electric burr grinders instead.

What brewing methods is it best for?
Aeropress, moka pot, French press, pour over, drip/filter and cold brew. Dial the grind coarser or finer to suit whichever method you're using.

How many grind settings does it have?
Eight coarseness levels, set with the twistable waist ring - so you can match your grind to your brew style and repeat it next time.

What are the burrs made of?
Ceramic. They stay sharp over the long term, won't rust, and don't transfer heat to your grounds the way some metal burrs can.

How much coffee can it grind at once?
Up to 60g of beans per fill - enough to grind for 3 cups in one go, with the grounds caught in the removable glass container.

How do I clean it?
Unscrew and disassemble, then brush the grounds out of the burrs and chamber. Give it a deeper clean occasionally. Keep the grinding mechanism dry rather than soaking it.

Is it good for travel?
Yes - it's compact, handheld and needs no power, so it's an easy one to take camping, to the office, or away for the weekend.

Noticed the extraction on my Breville Dual Boiler wasn't pouring equally from the twin portafilter and discovered the plastic diffusion plate had a large crack so ordered a new plate, screen and seal. Bottomless portafilter

Instantly improved shots! Then decided to upgrade shower screen and get a magnetic dose collar and needles to prevent channeling and I wish I did it years ago. If you’re going to spend decent cash on a machine these are a small further cost for big reward.

Coffee Nerd, is it worth your money?

I make the answer simple, yes it is. I bought the bottomless portafilter with the aluminium rosewood handle and the high diffusion espresso shower screen, both for the Breville Express machine. I am still trialling the product to perfect my coffee but having these items definately made my coffee machine produce a lot better coffee with plenty of crema on my black coffee. The service and information I got from the company is also top of the range. I strongly recommend these products. So if you are not sure, go for it, you wont be disappointed.
