All the benefits of a puck screen, in a slimmer profile. The Precision Slimline Puck Screen sits between your coffee and the shower screen to even out water flow, prevent channelling and keep your group head clean - same as a standard screen. The difference is thickness: at just 1mm, it takes up barely any headspace in the basket, so it won't eat into your dose capacity or crowd a tight group head. Same 150-micron filtration, lower profile. Drop it on top of your tamped puck and pull as normal.

Why You'll Love It

A puck screen does two jobs at once. It sits on top of your tamped coffee and disperses the incoming water more evenly across the bed - reducing channelling and those messy spurts - and it acts as a barrier that keeps coffee oils and grinds off your shower screen, so your group head stays cleaner and needs less backflushing.

The Slimline does all of that in a 1mm profile. Because it's thinner than a standard puck screen, it barely intrudes on the space above your puck - so you keep your full dose capacity and it fits comfortably even in machines that are tight on headroom. If you've upgraded to a thicker shower screen and suddenly your portafilter feels crowded, a slimline screen is the easy way to win that clearance back.

Cleaner shots, an easier-to-clean machine, and a lower profile that stays out of the way.

How is this different from your standard Coffee Puck Screen?

Both screens use the same 150μm stainless mesh and do the same job - even water distribution, less channelling, a cleaner group head. The difference is thickness:

  • Coffee Puck Screen (1.7mm) - the standard. A more substantial, rigid screen with a bit more heft.
  • Slimline Puck Screen (1mm) - a lower profile that takes up less headspace in the basket, so it has minimal impact on dose capacity and sits more easily in tight group heads.

Neither makes "better" coffee than the other - they filter identically. Pick based on fit and feel. If you dose high, run a machine that's tight on clearance, or have fitted a thicker shower screen, go slimline. If you prefer a heavier, more rigid screen, the 1.7mm standard is for you.

How to use it

Dose, distribute and tamp as normal, then place the screen flat on top of the puck before you lock in the portafilter. Pull your shot as usual. To clean, tap it out with the puck and rinse - give it a deeper clean or soak periodically to clear the mesh.

Built to last

Stainless steel construction stands up to daily heat and pressure without warping, so it holds its shape and keeps performing shot after shot.

FAQs

What does a puck screen do?

It's a thin mesh disc that sits on top of your tamped coffee, below the shower screen. It helps distribute the incoming water more evenly across the puck to reduce channelling, and it keeps coffee grinds and oils off your shower screen so your group head stays cleaner between backflushes.

How is the Slimline different from your standard Coffee Puck Screen?

Same 150μm mesh and the same job - the only difference is thickness. The Slimline is 1mm, our standard Coffee Puck Screen is 1.7mm. The thinner profile takes up less room in the basket, so it has minimal impact on dose capacity and suits tighter group heads. Choose the Slimline for a lower profile, or the standard for a heavier, more rigid screen.

Which size do I need?

Match it to your portafilter: 51mm for De'Longhi Dedica and La Specialista, 53.5mm for 54mm Breville machines (Barista Express, Pro, Touch, Bambino Plus, Infuser), and 58.5mm for 58mm machines (Dual Boiler, Oracle, E61, Gaggia and more). If you're unsure, get in touch and we'll confirm.

Does it reduce how much coffee I can fit in the basket?

Barely. That's the point of the slimline design - at 1mm it takes up far less headspace than a thicker screen, so you keep effectively your full dose capacity. It's a good option if you dose high or your machine is tight on clearance.

Will it work if I've upgraded my shower screen?

Yes - and it's a great pairing. A thicker upgraded shower screen reduces the space above the puck, so a slimline puck screen helps you keep that clearance while still getting the benefits of screening on both sides of the puck.

How do I clean it?

Knock it out with the spent puck and rinse under the tap. Every so often, soak it or run it through a deeper clean to keep the mesh clear and flowing freely.
